THURSDAY - Christ the Savior Church

THURSDAY - After Gogol Mogol Bill took us to see Christ the Saviour Cathedral. It was amazingly ornate, filled with religious icons, frescos painted on high domes, and electric candelabra and gold everywhere. The church had been raised to the ground during Stalin's reign, but had been rebuilt in recent years as religion has returned to Russia.

Unfortunately, I didn't get a pic of this one on my camera phone to show you folks, and no cameras permitted inside. I'll have some other ones from our digital camera when I get home; for now you can click the link above to see the Wikipedia entry for it.
